This dress and coat would have been outstanding in its day. An original 1950s Frederick Starke cocktail dress and coat ensemble, it is being offered in poor, as found condition. Each piece is in an incredibly luxurious moss green satin, intricately embroidered in fine historic looking scrolls and finials, with glistening golden metallic thread accents.
The dress is a classic wiggle, with contour darts front and back and front bust darts. And the coat! A magnificent piece, its an open front stroller with extravagant fullness pleated into pointed seams in front and a seam across the upper back, with half sleeves and a quilted matching lining. The fabric is extraordinary, and would be incredible used in a historical costume, or a very skillful restorer might be able to revive the pieces as they are to some degree- either way, this ensemble is waiting for a new life!
Note: the coat is very heavy!
Dress is fully lined, coat is fully lined in quilted lining.
Closure: dress has metal zipper in left side seam, coat hos no closure.
